EVesto ensures full Mess- und Eichrechtskonformität for the German market

EVesto ensures full Mess- und Eichrechtskonformität for the German market

As the eMobility landscape continues to evolve, ensuring transparency, accuracy and regulatory compliance has become essential for operators, EMSPs and charging network owners, especially in Germany, where the Mess- und Eichrecht sets some of the most rigorous measurement and consumer-protection standards in Europe.

At EVesto, we are committed to delivering technology that not only empowers operators, but also meets the highest legal requirements in every market where we operate.
Therefore, we are pleased to confirm that EVesto is fully Mess- und Eichrechtskonform.

What does Mess- und Eichrechtskonformität mean?

The German Mess- und Eichrecht defines strict rules for how measurement data must be captured, stored, displayed and used for billing. Compliance ensures that:

  • Consumption values are accurate and verifiable
  • Data is stored in a tamper-proof and audit-ready manner
  • Start and end values for each charging session are transparent for the end user
  • Billing processes are legally compliant and fair
  • Operators can demonstrate full traceability and documentation to authorities

For EV operators, this is essential, they may only bill customers per kWh if the entire ecosystem (hardware + software) is compliant.

How EVesto ensures full compliance

EVesto’s CPMS has been designed from the ground up to support the requirements of the Mess- und Eichrecht. Our compliance includes:

  1. Accurate and validated measurement data

EVesto retrieves and processes meter values in a way that ensures consistency, completeness and auditability across the full transaction lifecycle.

  1. Tamper-proof data storage

All metering and transaction data is stored securely, including protection against manipulation or unauthorized modification. This ensures legal integrity of every charging session.

  1. Transparent access to metering values

Operators and EV drivers can access transparent start and end meter values. This aligns with consumer protection requirements and ensures trust in the billing process.

  1. Fully compliant billing flows

EVesto supports legally compliant invoicing, data aggregation and reporting, enabling operators to meet German regulatory obligations without additional integrations or manual checks.

  1. Audit-ready documentation

We provide a clear data structure for audits, technical inspections and regulatory reporting, ensuring operators stay compliant with minimal effort.

Continuous alignment with German regulations

Regulation within the German EV charging market continues to develop. EVesto is actively engaged with standards bodies, OEMs, CPOs and industry partners to ensure ongoing compliance as new requirements emerge.

We view compliance not just as an obligation, but as an opportunity to raise the bar for transparency, reliability and trust across the entire charging ecosystem.

Major milestone: Ad hoc tariffs and Peak & off-peak tariffs now available in EVesto

Ad hoc tariffs and Peak & off-peak tariffs now available in EVesto

At EVesto, we’re constantly pushing to give CPOs more control, flexibility, and insight into their charging operations. That’s why we’re proud to announce two key functionalities that mark a major milestone in the evolution of our platform: Ad hoc tariffs and Peak & off-peak tariffs.

Ad hoc tariffs – smart differentiation between sessions

We’ve added the ability to apply ad hoc tariffs, allowing you to distinguish between direct payment sessions and charge card sessions. This gives you full control over pricing, for example, to offset additional costs that come with payment providers for direct transactions. The feature is already live and ready to use, helping you maintain a healthy margin while offering fair, transparent pricing to your customers.

Peak & off-peak tariffs – dynamic pricing for a dynamic market

Energy markets are changing faster than ever, and static pricing models no longer fit the reality of fluctuating energy costs. With peak & off-peak tariffs, EVesto enables you to define time-based pricing that automatically adjusts to energy market variations. Whether it’s incentivizing off-peak charging or protecting margins during peak hours, this functionality puts intelligent pricing at your fingertips.

Why this matters

Implementing these capabilities isn’t just a software update, it’s a technical leap. Dynamic and ad hoc pricing touches every layer of the EVesto platform: from tariff configuration and CDR generation to settlement logic and financial transparency. These updates required extensive architectural adjustments to ensure consistency, compliance, and performance at scale.

The result? A platform that’s even more powerful, precise, and ready for the next phase of growth in EV charging management.

5 persistent myths about CPMS – debunked

A close-up of a hand flipping a futuristic switch, with glowing yellow energy lines symbolizing EVesto CPMS turning myths into reality.

5 persistent myths about CPMS – debunked

The EV charging market is growing at lightning speed. Yet there are still many misconceptions about the role and value of a Charge Point Management System (CPMS). At EVesto, we frequently hear these myths in conversations with CPOs, installers, and partners.

In this article, we highlight 5 of the most persistent myths and explain what the reality looks like.

Myth 1: “A CPMS is only needed if you have hundreds of charge points.”

Where this comes from: many smaller operators believe a CPMS only becomes relevant once they run a large network.

Reality: scalability starts small. Even with a handful of chargers, insights into sessions, remote monitoring, and smart energy management are already valuable. At EVesto, we often see clients start with a few charge points and then seamlessly scale up. Thanks to our scalable architecture, you never need to reinvest in a different platform.

Myth 2: “Vendor lock-in is inevitable.”

Where this comes from: traditional backends often tied hardware and software tightly together, making it nearly impossible to switch.

Reality: EVesto is fully vendor-agnostic. Our CPMS works with different charge points, EMS solutions, and partners. Thanks to open APIs and OCPP compatibility, operators maintain full freedom to design their infrastructure flexibly. This way, today’s choices don’t limit tomorrow’s growth.

Myth 3: “A CPMS is only about transactions and billing.”

Where this comes from: older back-office systems focused almost exclusively on billing, creating the perception that CPMS equals administration.

Reality: billing is only one part of what a modern CPMS does. At EVesto, we combine this with our Connect & Collect service:

  • Connectivity (Managed Roaming): we manage roaming connections (such as Gireve, Hubject, and P2P integrations), ensuring you meet the highest interoperability standards.
  • Automation (Invoicing to MSPs): fully automated invoicing based on verified session data—error-free, compliant, and no manual processing required.
  • Transparency (Payouts to CPOs): full visibility of your revenues per MSP, with detailed breakdowns per session and reliable, on-time payouts.

A CPMS is much more than billing: it is the central hub where data, processes, and automation come together.

Myth 4: “Migrating to another CPMS is a nightmare.”

Where this comes from: stories of long downtimes or painful transitions circulate widely in the market.

Reality: switching doesn’t have to be a nightmare. EVesto has developed processes and tooling that ensure smooth migrations—often without end users even noticing. This allows operators to benefit from a future-proof CPMS without the risks of a complex transition.

Myth 5: “All CPMS platforms are the same.”

Where this comes from: from the outside, many CPMS platforms look alike—they manage charge points and process payments.

Reality: there are significant differences. Some systems are closed, not scalable, or lack energy optimization and integration capabilities. EVesto stands out with openness, flexibility, and continuous development. Our focus is on software that grows with you, rather than holding you back.

Conclusion:

Conclusion:
Myths can slow down the adoption of smart software unnecessarily. In practice, a CPMS makes the difference between limited growth and future-ready charging infrastructure.
At EVesto, we provide an open, scalable, and smart solution that gives CPOs freedom, control, and insight—and with Connect & Collect, we add a unique service package that automates roaming, invoicing, and financial transparency.
